Son of James Barclay and Maria Van Beverhoudt, born December 3, 1782. Was a member of the Adelphic Society while at Union College.

Bockbee, Abraham
Representative from New York; born in Shekomeko, Dutchess County, NY, February 3, 1784; attended the public schools, and graduated Union College 1803; studied law in Poughkeepsie, was admitted to the bar in 1806, and practiced in Poughkeepsie until 1815, when he returned to Shekomeko; engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of state assembly in 1820; elected as a Jackson Democrat to the Twenty-first congress; died on June 1, 1865.

Bowen, William Corliss
Graduated at Union College in 1803. He studied medicine with an uncle, Dr. Pardon Bowen, of Providence, and afterwards went to Europe and studied in the schools of Paris, London and Edinburgh. He turned his attention to chemical pursuits and in 1811 returned to this country. He greatly impaired his property and lost his life in experiments, the results or which were of great benefit to the manufacturing interests of the country.

Dean, Artemus
He was born at Taunton, Mass., August 16, 1783; graduated Union College, 1803, and was settled over the Congregational church in Bethlehem, N. Y., 1814. He was dismissed in 1842. He was the sixth generation in descent from Walter Deane, who emigrated from Chard, England, and settled in Taunton, New England, in 1638.

From Schenectady. Was a member of the Adelphic Society. Tutor at Union College 1803-1805; Physician; Died May 21, 1861.

Fonda, Alexander Glen
Born in Schenectady August 17, 1785. Obtained his medical education under Dr. Archibald H. Adams, and received his license to practice in 1806. Had an office at 15 Union St. Died February 25, 1869.

Mathews, James Melancthon
Born March 18, 1875 in Salem, NY. Graduate of Union College, 1803. Attended Theological Seminary of the Associated Reformed Dutch Church graduating in 1807. In 1812 he was appointed associate professor of biblical literature at the seminary founded in New York. Helped found South Reformed Dutch Church in New York, and as its pastor, held an important position in the religious life of the city. Instrumental in establishment of New York University, becoming its first chancellor. Died in 1870.

Morgan, Jonathan
Born at Brimfield, Massachusetts in 1778, died 1871. He entered Brown University 1799, but changed to Union College graduating in 1803. In 1812 he moved to Maine where he worked as a lawyer and part-time inventor.

Shipping merchant. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, September 7, 1785; died May 18, 1865.

Palmer, Thomas
A resident of Ballston, New York, was a member of the Philomathean Society. Was the first cashier of the Schenectady Bank which was organized in 1832. He died in 1855.

Starr, Gideon
A student of Union College who died before graduation. He was a member of the Adelphic Society.

Taylor, John W.
Lawyer and Congressman, born at Charlton, Saratoga County, New York, on March 26, 1784. Graduated Union College in 1803; studied law at Albany; was admitted to the bar in 1807, and began to practice in Ballston, New York, becoming justice of the peace in 1808, and subsequently state commissioner of loans. Died September 8, 1854.

Ward, Solomon
Graduated Union College in 1803 and was a member of the Adelphic Society. Studied law in Baltimore, Maryland, and was admitted to the bar; commenced preaching in 1818. After preaching in different places in New England he moved to Kentucky.

Warford, James P.
Son of Rev. John Warford. Admitted to St. Lawrence County bar in 1807. Became a lawyer and settled in Ogdensburgh where he died on August 21, 1812.
