Biographical Information
Born March 18, 1875 in Salem, NY. Graduate of Union College, 1803. Attended Theological Seminary of the Associated Reformed Dutch Church graduating in 1807. In 1812 he was appointed associate professor of biblical literature at the seminary founded in New York. Helped found South Reformed Dutch Church in New York, and as its pastor, held an important position in the religious life of the city. Instrumental in establishment of New York University, becoming its first chancellor. Died in 1870.
