Biographical Information

First president of Trinity College (1824-1831) in Hartford. He entered the College of Rhode Island (now Brown University) in 1800; switched to Union College in 1802 and graduated in 1804. When Rev. Eliphalet Nott became president, Brownell was appointed tutor in Latin and Greek. He died at Hartford, Connecticut, on January 13, 1865.
