Biographical Information

Born April 21, 1784 in Kingston, NY. After pursuing his studies at Kingston Academy, he went to Union College where he graduated in 1802. He was a member of the Philomathean Society. Soon after he studied law under Ogden Edwards in New York, securing him admission to the bar in 1806. He practiced law in Chenango County, where he became a prominent equity lawyer. He was known as “the Count”.
