Biographical Information

Dr. Cornelius Dupuy Westbrook was a widely known preacher, connected with the old Reformed churches of Fishkill and Peekskill. He was born at Rochester, Ulster Co., N.Y., in May,1782; graduated from Union College, 1801; studied under Dr. John B. Romeyn; was licensed by the Classis of Albany, 1804; was Tutor at Union, 1803-5; Pastor at Fishkill, 1806-30; elected Trustee of Reformed Church and D, D. ,1829; first editor of the Christian Intelligencer, 1830-3; Rector of the Gr. Schools at New Brunswick, 1833-6. Trustee, Rutgers College, 1829-58.He died at Kingston in 1858.
