Abstract

In recent years many investigators have sought to measure the rate of exchange between two different oxidation states of an element in aqueous solution. The results of such studies often lead to a clearer understanding of the intermediate steps of the chemical reactions of ions of elements. Sunce much of the chemistry of gold is insufficiently understoof, it seems desireable to look for a measurable rate of exchange between the various oxidation states of this element.
