Abstract
We constructed two quantum optical setups to control and detect single photons generated via Type-I and Type-II spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC). The photons, denoted signal and idler, were detected in coincidence using a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The data acquisition and user interfaces to manipulate the photon counts were programmed in LabVIEW. We aligned a Mach-Zhender interferometer into one of our optical setups to measure single photon interference and to perform the quantum eraser experiment. The other optical setup was built to investigate the consequences of entanglement.
