Abstract
Technology has given developers the ability to create extremely realistic looking environments. While gamers want and enjoy this, there are times when gamers simply want an escape from reality. Non-photorealistic graphics provide this escape. They also allow developers and artists to be more creative and artistic in their game designs. Nonphotorealism is a technique used to create worlds and environments that have a cartoon look and feel to them. Popular examples of this graphical effect are the Dark Cloud series, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and XIII.
