Abstract

For my senior recital, I have chosen a program of several different composers who span across many years in the classical world. This way, I can explore how the differing styles of these men contrast based on the time period they were composing in and the geographical location they were living. Because of this, I am singing music in English, French, Italian, and German. These languages themselves provide a great challenge, as vocal inflections differ greatly between each of them. Additionally, the genres of the pieces range from German lieder to Oratorio to Opera, and allow for contrasting styles of singing between each piece.
