Abstract
The objective of this project is to develop new modules for Xkl and other speech analysis software. The developed components should be able to be integrated with other tools with few changes, since this is one of the requirements of good software design. In this report the major components of the project will be discussed: the implementation of a labeling system and the construction of a pitch contour module. Each section of this report will discuss these two parts individually. The results of this project show that good research, design and perseverance are essential for any project to be successful. Good research leads to good design because someone has probably designed something similar to the project, and probably ran into many problems that you can now avoid. Having perseverance is extremely important because no plan is perfect and something is bound to go wrong, yet a project is always more rewarding after a struggle. In this project, goals were set too high for the time limit on the project. However, significant progress was made and improvements will continue to be made in the near future.
