Description

This is one of the most startling juxtapositions in any of Stillman's albums. One the left are four photographs of waterfalls in New Hampshire, and on the right is a view of the Tiber in Rome. This pairing suggests that Stillman was grouping the photographs chronologically, as this view of the Tiber is followed by others taken in Rome between 1862-64, shortly after his camping trips of the late 1850s.
