This photograph was published in Stillman's Poetic Localities of Cambridge (1876), facing page 41, alongside Holmes' poem "Under the Washington Elm;" it is printed in an oval format in that publication. The monument commemorating the location of the disappeared tree is now at the corner of Garden and Mason Streets, Cambridge.
