Description

This is one of four prints in this album depicting this building. Stillman seems to have been drawn to it as a living architectural palimpsest: the round-arched part of the structure at right is built of carefully worked stone blocks, while the rest is rustic vernacular masonry. At the center of the image, we can see water cascading from a makeshift conduit onto an unruly garden, which evokes a certain decrepitude.
