Description
This capstone design project aims to convert three-phase alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) with a rectifier circuit and invert DC to three-phase AC with an inverter circuit. The purpose of this project is to replicate breaking (AC to DC) and driving (DC to AC) in an electric vehicle through the use of a DC power supply, microcontroller, induction motor, permanent magnet AC motor, half-bridge gate drivers, transistors, inductors, capacitors, and resistors. The completed project will invert DC to three-phase AC to power an induction motor and convert three-phase AC to DC to power a power resistor. The induction motor will be coupled to a DC machine to control its speed. The permanent magnet AC motor will be coupled to a DC machine to create three-phase AC signals that will be converted to DC to power a resistor.
