Biographical Information

Representative from New York; born in Shekomeko, Dutchess County, NY, February 3, 1784; attended the public schools, and graduated Union College 1803; studied law in Poughkeepsie, was admitted to the bar in 1806, and practiced in Poughkeepsie until 1815, when he returned to Shekomeko; engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of state assembly in 1820; elected as a Jackson Democrat to the Twenty-first congress; died on June 1, 1865.
