Abstract

In an alternate reality, technological advancements have enabled people to instantly access their memories. Everyone has a memory implant that records everything humans do, see, and hear. Although having instantaneous access to memory logs may appear to be a privilege, a certain couple will soon find out that the ability to replay past events is only damaging to one's psyche. Therefore this thesis proposes an analysis of how certain technological advancements can be detrimental to society rather than beneficial. Based on this context, I have used creative writing to address this topic. The following narrative explores the relationship between a young-and recently unemployed-lawyer, Francois de Croix and his spouse Fabienne, who is suspected of having an affair with a former friend from college. Using this memory implant technology, the suspicious Francois soon finds out a dark truth about his beloved wife.
