Biographical Information

Son of Rev. John Blair Smith. Entered the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1805, receiving the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1807. He was a physician in the Medical Corps of the US Army from 1816-1834. Appointed Post-Surgeon on November 12, 1816, and later Assistant Surgeon of the Army from June 1, 1821 until his death on November 28, 1834.
